Vis Moot Team

UFMG

From the Brazilian Mountains in the state of Minas Gerais to the world.

We are from a Brazilian public university named Federal University of Minas Gerais.​ Our School is constatly ranked as the best Brazilian Law School.

Our students are hard-working and extremely motivated. We believe Vis Moot is an unique undergraduation experience since it provides students the chance to work with international legislation and cases as well as meet arbitrators and students with different background education.

Brazilian by birth, German by soul, Maria is 22 yo girl, who is current in her last year in Law School. Extremely motivated, Maria is passionate about Arbitration and Civil Law. She did a 6 months internship in Baker McKenzie Germany, focusing on international arbitration. She also studied in University of Mainz for a semester, where she took courses about German and European private law. In addition, she did an internship in Fialho Salles Advogados, where she worked with Brazilian Arbitration. In UFMG, Maria was a tutor for Law of Obligations and for Constitutional Review, even before she takes the classes herself. Maria was also part of the team for the Brazilian Moot last year, that won the second place! Besides arbitration life, she was a volunteer researcher for human rights in the government. She speaks Portuguese, English and German.

This girl is the latin american spirit of the team. Krícia has developed social works around Brazil since her childhood. These activities together with her team spirit made Krícia a really good asset for any team that has her. During Law School, she worked as an intern in law offices and in a brazilian arbitration chamber (CAMARB). Recently, she worked as the summer intern in the arbitration team of Barbosa Müssnich Aragão, in São Paulo. and is currently dedicating her time to the team Nowadays, she is working in a research about third-party funding’s secondary market . Her goal is to develop international commerce in Latin America towards excellence. Kricia was part of the team for the Brazilian Moot last year, that won the second place.  She speaks Portuguese, English and Spanish.

KRÍCIA PIRES COELHO

Alessandro is 19 and he is currently in his 3rd semester. He is enthralled by international commerce and relations and he is eager to deepen his knowledge of international private law. Always keen on international moots, he joined a few Model United Nations debates - certainly one of his most fruitful experiences. He loves technology and, besides considering himself a 'geek', he participates in a project that applies jurimetrics to its school's legal aid bureau. Our youngest mootie,  Alessandro hopes to learn how to knot his tie before Vienna!

Bruna is currently in her 6th semester. She coordinates the study group Stylus Curiarum, about International Courts and Tribunals. She participated as a speaker in the Concours Charles Rousseau, the most important moot competition in International Law in French of the world. She also coordinates the Rede Francófona, a networking group of UFMG students passionate about the French language and culture. Bruna is fluent in English, French and Italian. Bruna believes moots are the best learning method and she is really excited to learn about arbitration!

Eleonora is 21 and loves to study transnational relations, especially regarding international law. She is not only a student of Law, but also a student of International Relations! During Law School, she studied for a semester at Avans University of Applied Sciences, in the Netherlands, where she attended classes for the Strategic Business Decisions minor. Nowadays, she is in the 5th semester of Law School. Eleonora is really excited to learn more about international arbitration as well as international commercial relations.

Marcelo is 20 and is in his 4th semester of Law School. He did a voluntary internship in Public Defender’s Office and is currently doing an internship in Attorney-General of the Union. He is also a member of the study group of Economic Law in our school. In addition, Marcelo was in the team for Brazilian Moot this year. ​Heis looking forward to the team work and to have new challenges here and in Vienna!

Prof. Dr. Christian Sahb Lopes

Professor

Mr. Lopes is a professor at Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG). Nowadays, he teaches Contract Law and Arbitration to undergraduate students and is also a Professor for Master and Doctor students. Mr. Lopes graduated in Law in our school, where he also did a Master and a Doctor of Laws. Beyond his studies in UFMG, Mr. Lopes was a L.L.M. student in University of Columbia and did some specialization courses in Fundação Getúlio Vargas. Mr. Lopes has lots of experience with Brazilian Civil and Comercial Law; International Arbitration as well as International Sales and Purchase of Goods. He is a director in one of the main arbitration chambers in Brazil: CAMARB.  He is the professor responsible for supporting the mooties for the XXVI Vis Moot. 

Bernardo de Mattos Cabral

Coach

Bernardo is an Associate Lawyer at Grebler Advogados. He has experience in Corporate Law, specializing in Mergers and Acquisitions involving Company Constitution and Restructuring, Startup Projects, Joint Ventures and Shareholders’ Agreement. Bernardo advises clients in the drafting and negotiation of Corporate and Commercial Contracts, Project Finance and Infrastructure, besides representing clients in matters involving Mining Law and Administrative Law. Bernardo is a member of the Startup Law Committee of the Brazilian Bar Association, Minas Gerais Chapter (OAB/MG). Bachelor of Laws degree from the Federal University of Minas Gerais, 2012; Postgraduate degree in Corporate Law from INSPER.
